About Greyhounds

Greyhounds make wonderful pets. They have a sensitive and gentle nature. They generally don’t bark, although Sophie is an exception to that rule. She can be very vocal when she sees other dogs and cats, particularly when she's on the leash.

The most common misconception about greyhounds is that they need a lot of exercise. In reality, greyhounds are quite lazy and they adapt well to retirement. They are happy with regular walks and love to sleep all day. Sophie gets two walks each day - one in the morning and one in the evening - and a potty break before we all go to bed. Mr. Cracker up close

Greyhounds don't need a lot of space. It wasn't until we moved to Santa Cruz that Mr. Cracker had a yard of his own. Before that, he lived very happily in a condo in Austin and a one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco.

If you are in Austin and want to find out more about greyhound adoption, contact Greyhound Pets of America - Central Texas. If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, contact Greyhound Friends For Life. If you are in another part of the country, try a Google search for "Greyhound Adoption" in your area or check out either Greyhound Pets of America or Adopt A Greyhound. If you prefer, you can contact me and I'll put you in touch with a greyhound adoption agency.
